Matsushita Electric Industrial, the maker of Panasonic products, is the latest

firm to announce a major shift in production from SE Asia to China due to ex-pected

huge local demand there. The company would focus on lower end products

there, with 40% slash in production quantity in SE Asia during a 3-year period. It

also aims to boost sales in China to Yen1 trillion by 2007.

Comment: There is no details that the production of CD Changer would be moved

or not, as the product is still considered hi-end. However, we view that in the long

run there would be negative impact on METCO, as the products account for over

50% of METCO's total sales. Moreover, Matsushita is the sole client for CD Changer,

which lead us to be concerned if the company can not find substitutes.
